On Sunday 22nd July members of Glossopdale Masonic Lodge held their annual garden party, the first since the amalgamation earlier this year, of Devonshire & Mallender Lodges, both who meet in the town.

The event was hosted by the Worshipful Master, Brother Fred Webber, at the home of his daughter, Anne, and well attended by over sixty members, family, friends and children.

The theme was ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ with many people being appropriately dressed, with prizes being awarded for the best costume and the best hat.

A lavish amount of food was provided by the wives and friends of the members as part of the Raffles, ‘Bring and Buy’, Bottle Bola, and other items which raised in excess of £1000  for local charities.

This sum will be added to amounts already amassed from functions earlier in the year, with the intention that it will be used for donations to charities within the Glossopdale area.

Any organisation wishing to be considered for inclusion should write to ‘The Charity Representative’ Glossopdale Masonic Lodge, Henry Street, Glossop SK13 8BW,  the request will be included for discussion among the members.
